my first thought was - wow! that's really deep. i wish i could come up with stuff like this! then i thought - i'm a 21st century bureaucrat, not a 20th century european existentialist, so it's okay that i don't come up with this. then i really started to think ...
my thought is that rilke only had it half right. loving someone is a difficult task, but i would submit that always LIKING the ones that you love is really the last test and proof and a more difficult task.
