the spawn of snopocalypse - the aftermath update

the spawn of snopocalypse is officially over for me. we spent 3 1/2 hours yesterday shoveling out our property and the that of the old ladies across the street. and today it took another 2 hours to dig out our car (pictures at the end). most of the side streets are still completely impassable. i know this because after digging out the subaru i took a spin around the block. most side streets haven't been plowed and the others have big ruts and cars stuck every where. i, on the other hand, looked like a car right out of an advertisement. the snow was no match for me and my outback!

there is one thing though that i haven't been able to conquer - snow on the directv dish! who knew that it was actually a "dish" that would fill with whatever came down?! frustrating.

the snow has fallen (about 16" in dc proper) and the clean up begins. it's almost 1:00 in the afternoon and they have yet to plow my side street. we did have a plow drive down the street - i'm sure that counts for something. here's some final parting shots and hoping that the federal government finds it in its heart to close tomorrow ...
